My name is Antonio Garcia, also known as Tony, and I’m the proud owner of GA Finish Carpentry. My journey into the door business began unexpectedly at the age of 18. I found myself in Palm City one day, waiting in the parking lot as my wife interviewed for a job. That’s when I noticed a van with a “Help Wanted” sign. Without a job myself, I decided to walk in and inquire about the position. Little did I know that decision would shape my career.
Despite having no prior experience in the industry, I landed the job and spent the next five years learning under the guidance of a mentor. While our professional relationship ended due to a misunderstanding, it set me on a path of self-discovery. I spent a year as a handyman before joining Gutter Smith, where I worked for Frank for exactly one year.
It was during my time at Gutter Smith that I crossed paths with another major supplier. After six months of persistence, they finally gave me the chance to subcontract for them, and that’s when my career truly began to take off.
The hands-on experience I gained, combined with the opportunities I had in this new role, helped me refine my skills and deepen my expertise in the door business.
However, I soon realized that their reliability was lacking, and I found myself regularly fixing their mistakes to ensure client satisfaction.
As builders began to take notice of my work, they started reaching out to me directly. That’s when I decided to take the leap of faith and become an independent contractor. Over the last four years, I’ve had the privilege of working with renowned builders such as Ryan Homes, Monna Homes, Indian River Project Management, Kolter Homes, and Ecclestone.
In April 2024, I opened my own shop, offering turnkey door supply and installation services. I’m proud to share that GA Finish Carpentry was named Contractor of the Quarter (#5 out of 422 vendors) by Kolter Complete.
